Happy Easter weekend! I hope you have a great weekend of celebrating, even if it might look different than you may have pictured this winter. In order to stay positive and focusing beyond today, I encourage you bring your focus back onto your long-term goals. “Where there is no vision, the people perish” – Proverbs 29:18
Having a purpose and knowing where you’re going towards is critical to staying hopeful and having enough gas in the tank to keep chugging along for the long haul. The news stories and reality of the present moment may be unpleasant, but as long as you can keep anchoring yourself to something bigger than this, that anchor helps guide you towards doing things that will get you towards where you actually want to get to.
Honestly, at times during all this, when I’ve felt most deflated is when I’ve gotten deflated form there not being an end in sight. Just this week, the most recent episode of that happened when I talked to the coordinator of the Fishers Farmers Market. She was explaining to me that the market is not going to be an in-person experience at the beginning of May, and we won’t be setting up as a sponsor for an “indefinite” amount of time.
While that hurts, there’s nothing I can do to change that part of our reality. But bringing my focus toward another reality, that there are people with back and neck issue that respond great to chiropractic care, has helped shift my focus towards the long-term goal of finding out how to best help them, and trying to figure out how to be a resource for them. And when the Farmers Market returns, I’ll be there waiting.
So if you need an added boost of motivation, it may help you to focus on a long-term goal and purpose as well. It could help drown out the negatives.
