Looking backwards can really jack up your neck. Pun intended.
One of the things that I’ve seen as a common theme in talking to people about any back or neck issues, is a family history of things like arthritis and back pain. While those can be things that can contribute towards feeling pain, I’m going to
encourage the readers of this blog post to disregard it as much as possible.
The reason is really simple: in this moment, there’s nothing you can do to change the past.
When we’re trying to take action to change your health, we need to mostly only consider certain facts. What I mean by that is, we should only consider facts that we can change by our actions. “Polar bears are white” is a true statement, but it doesn’t change what we do on a day to day basis. “My grandfather had arthritis” can be true, but we can’t go back and time to change it.
Instead, what we can control is what your spine is doing. What sort of stresses you’re putting into it. If it’s not aligned of moving well, what kind of an adjustment we can do to fix that. If there’s something to do for home stretches and exercises, how often we’re doing those.
By focusing on the controllable, that’s where we can really start to change your health in the present and in the future.
