I hope you all had a great Independence Day weekend! It was funny, by the end of the fireworks show, I felt like I needed a chiropractor! We went to a gathering in Carmel and wound up really close to the main fireworks show…and at the end, from cranking my head up for so long, it was a little sore! My life sucks.
Just kidding about my life sucking…but I’ve seen a lot of instances where people do something simple and seemingly non-stressful, only to find out that by doing it for so long or often enough, their body starts to get worn down from it. Most often, it’s something simple like sitting in front of a desk or looking down at our phones.
So, something you can do to start to minimize the impact of these stresses in your back and neck, is starting to recognize what you’re doing that may be less than ideal on your spine. Then, you can start to cut back a little bit, break things up, or modify that activity as needed. Sure, you’re probably not going to crank your head up to watch fireworks every day, but by starting to recognize the day-in day-out stressors, your body will thank you.
